| Don't Get Ripped Off Selling Your Baseball Cards |
| Pricing baseball cards can be the difference from you selling your
cards for too cheap and getting ripped off or getting you fair market
value. Back in the old days not too long ago, our loving mothers
started to throw away baseball cards in the trash and selling them at garage sales once the little ones
grew up and moved out of the house either off to college or off to the
military. This happened to a lot of households across America that this
caused a huge downward supply in the baseball card market. Word
trickled out to the masses that there was a shorter supply of baseball
cards that this in turn drove prices up into the stratosphere. Vintage baseball cards can go for thousands of dollars for just a single card. Although baseball cards can go for a lot of money, there are several factors that make prices fluctuate higher or lower. The main thing that sets the price of the card is the player on the card. A Mickey Mantle topps rookie card goes for tens of thousands of dollars in mint condition. The same card that is in the worst gradeable condition which is in poor condition, has gone for a thousand or two in this day and age. Another card in the same set of little known players, which are
called common cards, go for around 40 dollars in mint condition and
probably 5 bucks in poor condition. So there is a huge difference in
prices for cards in the same set. Another factor that can drive prices up are short print cards or in baseball cards lingo, SP cards. In the old vintage days, manufacturer sets like Topps used to have several issues of sets during the season and during the calendar year may have had 5 different series releases. Although it may have been say a 500 card set, they may have released say 100 cards on the first print, then later in the year another 100, then another 100 until the whole 500 card set was made. Well during the off season card sales may have been down which made certain series of the set harder to get especially in today's market. Back in the 19th century and early 20th century, specialty stores and mostly tobacco companies inserted baseball cards into their products. These cards in today's market are very scarce and highly sought after for the serious collector. Building sets for this baseball era is a hard but lucrative task. Hall of famer Honus Wagner's T206 mint card sold for over a million dollars and consistently sets new records. Cracker jack got into the baseball card business and in today's market, can be a little pricey for the everyday collector. Supply and demand control the market fluctuations usually for these cards but it has been a steady increase in price for the past several decades. Let us help you price your cards for a minimal price so you save yourself from getting taken advantage of. I have personally bought a 1500 dollar card for $14 and another 1500 dollar card for $23.50 at an antique store this past year. They should have paid for our services before I walked into there store. Let us help you out with pricing your baseball cards today.
